Today I bought

I wanted black patent pumps and these were only $47 after the discount:

So why should I stop at just that? Especially when I had been admiring sexy Nude pumps for a looong while:

Earlier this week, we also purchased the Nespresso machine I had promised we would buy. 20% off at David Jones if you hold a DJs Amex. Plus there is a cashback offer! So it was a lot cheaper than we expected to pay.

Great Target Sales haul

We had an Uh-May-Zing shopping trip this weekend as part of our routine visit to the local Westfield.

S and I have been struggling over the subject of lamps. S being happy with his childhood one without spending exorbitant amounts on something a bit more 'adult'. His heart was set on spending our money on something more decadent, a Nespresso machine. I wasn't as excited about it as I was trying to cut down on my coffee intake. So with that 'tiff' in mind we set out to Woolworths.

I bought some ingredients for pizza baking, and for the red velvet cupcakes that I planned to make for my manager's farewell on Tuesday. I also topped up on Maldon Salt flakes and rock salt as we had run out, and put into the trolley a 'Living Basil' plant that I intended to put into a pot to add to my herd garden.

All through that, S stayed put in one place cause there were too many people around the supermarket what with the 3 minute angels and the face painters Woolies had brought in to keep the shoppers happy. It was just too hard to push the trolley around with me. He had also found a discarded Target catalogue to amuse himself with and so was more than happy to let me zip along the aisles and come back to the trolley with our groceries.

As I unloaded our last lot, he showed me that Target had 40% off all table lamps! And a whopping 50% off tin bakeware! So we hurriedly paid and left our groceries in the car before rushing off to Target. Moments later we re-emerged new happy owners of these lovely lamps at $24 each! And we got ourselves a proper pizza pan and a brand new muffin tin! Yippee!

Surely you see how much more of an improvement this is from the previous bedroom post!

We made the yummiest thin crust pizza with success this time!

And ah, you should know too that I have agreed with S that we'll get a Nespresso machine cause he dragged me to Myer to convince me that the model he seeks after will really not take up too much room on my precious little kitchen countertops. And let's face it, I do love good coffee every now and then, given S and I eat brunch at home on the weekends nowadays, it will just add another level of enjoyment to our simple married life. We get it from the Good Guys next week because they start a Cashback deal on the 19th of March.

The quest for eggy pasta

I have been begging S for a pasta-making machine. I love pasta and eating noodles of all kinds, but something about the chewiness of the home made variety really makes for a different level of fooding.
I set out today to endeavour an egg pasta without the machine. I used about 600g of flour and mixed in 4 eggs and 2 egg yolks, a dash of olive oil and a pinch of salt to begin the process of making the dough.

After much kneading, I begin adding lashes of water every now and then as there really was too much egg in this recipe and the dough was not moist enough.
My grandmother used to make us noodles every Saturday when we were kids, so I channelled a lot of my memories of her into making this dish. After a long time of kneading and not seeing the silkiness that the dough should have started developing, I enlisted the help of my brother who gave it a good few hard kneads with his muscles to finish off the process.
After resting the dough for about 30 minutes,

we took turns rolling out small pieces of dough on a floured surface to make a flat piece. It took a few goes, but I found the process much easier if we cut off slices of the dough and begin rolling them out lengthways. Once you get it quite thin, flour both sides and fold it a little like an accordion and with a dry sharp knife you can begin to cut the noodles out in the width you want the noodles to look like.
We ended up making something like a fettucine:

And then turned it into this finished dish:

It was a really good bonding session with my brother. I kind of feel what Helen and Steve on the current My Kitchen Rules must feel like when they cook together. We shared so many memories of the wonderful meals our grandmother used to make whilst we made the pasta together. It was a rare ocassion where we weren't bickering or getting on each other's nerves.

I loved the pasta. It was certainly very al dente. Much like the ones that I remember from Italy. It is no wonder the Italian girl I met at surf camp said to me she didn't like the pasta in Australia. She said they all tasted like they were cooked in cold water. I realise now that if you eat hand made pasta like we did, there is a big difference in texture from the store bought variety.

Serve the dish straight from the stove on a rainy afternoon such as this one, and then wash it down with my new favourite drink, mineral water with a dash of creme de cassis for flavour. Looks pretty and makes me feel like I am having a cocktail.

Our latest wedding present

A friend from overseas came back and we caught up for the first time since we had gotten married. He brought us a gift from a home label that he reveres it would appear.

It was a lovely aroma diffuser which gives off a soft candle light glow when in use. All 180 minutes of it. I am tempted to put it on my bedside to give off ambience and diffuse divine scents throughout the night, but unfortunately I am not sure S would like the hiss of the misting throughout the night as he is a terribly light sleeper. Regardless, this is really adorable no?

A sleek design by Muji, which isn't very compatible with our bedroom design with our dark wood drawers and waratah imprinted curtains.

I had been dying to show off our tall boy since we got it two weeks ago but S had been sick and hadn't cleaned up his side of the room for a while.

I had to fight hard to get the two bottom drawers which are bigger but still cannot hold most of my clothes. S meanwhile gleefully has a separate underwear and sock drawer which he is disturbingly possessive over, even if he doesn't fill half of each drawer, he will not put his scarves or any other item in there that is not within its categories.

Hehe finally the bedroom is in a shape that I am able to post pictures of!

Purchases from Shopbop

I bought two items last week from shopbop on the 7th March and they arrived today in less than a week!
These are the items I bought on the models:
                                                            Rory beca Sofia lace blazer

Free people New romantics Adriatic queen dress
I should note to self that I am more of a size 6 when shopping online. I dunno why I keep kidding myself that I can fill out an 8.
This is me in the blazer which I think look great with skinny jeans. No way am I wearing lace shorts out.
Also here's the Adriatic queen paired with both a tube and a grey singlet that mimics the top of the dress

I say this is my new favourite dress. I think I'd wear it with the black tube. What'd ya think?
